Resumen

Este artículo presenta la variable “competitividad turística”y sus determinantes en cuanto modelo de competitividad enTourism Meeting, Incentives, Conferences y Eventos MICE. Igualmente, se define este sector económico, su concepto, alcance e importancia para la económica local y mundial. Es una amplia revisión bibliográfica con datos de posicionamiento competitivo en Meeting Tourism, en términos mundiales, de los 40 países y 40 ciudades que más recibieroneventos internacionales en el año de 2012. Adicionalmente, se analizan los datos de International Congress and Convention Association), frente a la competitividad turística general medida por WEF (World Economic Forún (ICCA), y se presenta el posicionamiento competitivo de los países y ciudades americanas en 2012. Lo anterior permite concluir que la literatura necesita evolucionar para explicar los nuevos atributos de elección de destinos Meeting. Especialmente se verifica que la competitividad MICE no está directamente relacionada al grado decompetitividad turística general de un país.
